Settled- To adopt a more steady or secure style of life, esp. in a permanent job and home.
The way Europeans use words to change one’s perception of what happened historically is called brainwashing. The American education system uses a mastery of words to soften the reality of the horrors of it’s history. One example is the use of the word “settle”. They tell us stories of these nice innocent pilgrims who happen to “stumble” across this land called America, then they decided to “settle” here to adopt a new life, and everyone was so happy. Right? They teach us these things as kids and we carry them into adulthood. That is why when you tell the average ignorant person what happened they get so offended. They won’t accept that what they have been believing all this time is false.
How did they “settle” here with people already living here without their permission? That’s called an INVASION. Europeans brought sickness/disease here, stole the Native’s resources, took their land, and then established rules in which THEY could live in. This is Real History. This is what happened. Words like “Invaded, Genocide, Murder, and larceny” are more accurate words that should be used to describe America.
Some people read stuff like this and think that we are teaching “hate” how is telling you what happened teaching hate? In all actuality they don’t realize that they “hate” truth. It’s disrespectful to the Natives that we pretend as if this did not happen. Peace.
